What We're Working On (No Empty Promises)

· 3 min read · by the Dovion crew

Let's start with what this article is NOT: a list of promised features with dates. We've all seen too many flashy roadmaps that end in apologies. Instead, here's Dovion's honest roadmap: what we're currently exploring, why, and what might never see the light of day. Think of this as a bar-counter chat with the team, not a contract.

Our rule: show, don't promise

Being a small studio, our plans move at the pace of our discoveries. A path that seemed simple turns out to be a rabbit hole; a side idea becomes obvious after three pieces of player feedback. Rather than announcing anything as final, we'd rather tell you what we're thinking about — in the conditional tense, with no calendar attached. When something's ready, we'll announce it right here, like we did with this summer's updates.

Idea #1: getting the game noticed (io game portals)

The most important project isn't inside the game, it's around it: visibility. Dovion only grows through word of mouth, and we'd like it to reach more players. One serious idea: browser game portals, the sites where millions of curious visitors discover .io games. Applications are in the works; nothing is signed, nothing is guaranteed — portals choose their games, not the other way around. We break down where things stand in the article on .io game portals.

Idea #2: mobile comfort, always and forever

The mobile HUD got rebuilt this summer, but we're not done with phones. Among the ideas under consideration: a real Android presence, possibly via TWA technology — in plain terms, an installable app that would wrap the game. It's an idea we're exploring, not a commitment; and in the meantime, the PWA already does the job really well. The pros, cons, and open questions are in the article dedicated to the Android idea.

Idea #3: balance, the never-ending project

This one isn't an "idea," it's ongoing work. The ship overhaul reshuffled the deck: 9 lineages, each with its own ability, means a lot of possible matchups to keep an eye on. We watch, we read your feedback, we adjust in small increments. The XP curve has already been reworked to smooth out leveling up — we explain that decision here — and more fine-tuning will follow as your reports come in.

What about community ideas?

This is the most exciting and unpredictable part. The forum is already packed with suggestions — some modest, some wild, plenty excellent. We can't do everything, but a lot of player suggestions are on our list to think through. If you want to influence what's next, this is the time and place: come make the case for your idea on the forum. Tomorrow's features might get decided in today's thread.

What we (probably) won't do

Honesty cuts both ways. An open text chat? Very unlikely: the lack of chat is a deliberate choice to keep the sea welcoming. Pay-to-win? No, that's a founding principle of the shop. Subscription servers? Not in our plans. We'd rather have a simple, free, healthy game that grows slowly than chase growth at any cost.

So there you have it, you now know everything we know — or almost. What comes next will partly be written with you: tell us what's missing, and while the work continues, the sea stays open. Play Dovion for free.
