"The Spectre Line: Speed, Stealth, and the Ghost Ship"
Picture the scene: you're calmly mining your rock, the sea is quiet, the minimap is empty. And suddenly a salvo appears out of nowhere — literally out of nowhere. Welcome to Dovion's Spectre line, the stealth path of the ship tree, culminating in the Vaisseau Fantôme (Ghost Ship) and its Dead Sails. Portrait of a line that wins its fights before they even start.
Clipper, Écumeur, Vaisseau Fantôme
The Spectre's path runs through three hulls: the Clipper at level 15, the Écumeur (Skimmer) at level 30, and the Vaisseau Fantôme (Ghost Ship) at level 45. It's the elusive branch of Dovion's 9 lines: where others stack armor or cannons, Spectre cultivates speed and stealth.
The Clipper and the Écumeur already play like ambush hulls: strike fast, vanish behind an island, reappear somewhere else. But it's at level 45 that the line reveals its true face.
The Dead Sails: truly disappearing
The Vaisseau Fantôme carries the Voiles Mortes (Dead Sails), its signature move: a stealth effect that makes you vanish from enemy screens. Not a simple visual disguise — other players simply can't see you anymore.
What that changes in practice:
- The approach: you choose your engagement. No one sees you coming, so no one prepares.
- The escape: a fight going badly? The Dead Sails turn a rout into an evaporation.
- The psychological pressure: a Ghost Ship spotted in the area is enough to put everyone on edge. Even invisible, you occupy every mind.
It's probably the most "mind game" ability in the game: it deals zero damage, and yet causes an enormous amount of it anyway.
The ghost's limits
Spectre isn't invincible, and the game built its predator on purpose. The Forteresse flottante (Floating Fortress) of the Pièges line carries the Fanal (Beacon), a beam that pierces fog and reveals invisible ships. Running into a Fanal while cloaked in Dead Sails means watching your best asset switch off in an instant.
Another reality to accept: the line is still a path of finesse. Play Spectre like a battleship — straight ahead, prolonged contact — and you'll quickly find out the hull doesn't forgive that kind of plan. Spectre strikes, takes its advantage, and refuses the war of attrition.
Who is this line for?
Spectre is built for you if:
- you'd rather choose your fights than have them chosen for you;
- you remember where enemies are even after they've left your screen;
- the idea of spreading panic without firing a single cannonball already makes you smile.
It's NOT for you if you want head-on duels and broadside exchanges — for that, look instead at the Bordées line and its Dreadnought.
Three tips to get started with Spectre
- Learn the map. An effective ghost knows where the selling points are, the rich rocks, and the traffic corridors: that's where prey gathers.
- Don't waste your stealth. The Dead Sails have a visible cooldown — popping them "just to see" is the surest way not to have them when your survival depends on it.
- Track the Fortresses. Mentally note every Pièges player in the match. Your worst enemy is the Fanal.
