"Comparing All 9 Ship Lines: Strengths, Weaknesses, Style"
You already know the basics of Dovion's 9 lines, but the moment you're about to click at level 15, doubt creeps in: which one is really made for you? This comparison puts every line under the microscope — hulls, ability, strengths, weaknesses, style — to help you decide. One tip before we start: there's no absolute "best line," only the best one for YOUR temperament. The full breakdown of the tree is still available in the 9-line guide.
The comparison, line by line
Narval — the ram
- Hulls: Corsaire → Corsaire noir → Trirème des Sirènes
- Active (E): Charge — a ramming rush, damage scales with speed
- Strengths: huge contact damage, synergy with the Ram stat, the siren sled
- Weaknesses: charging into empty water stuns you; punishes haste
- Style: patient predator, single decisive strike
Torpilles — the punisher
- Hulls: Torpilleur → Cotre-lame → Foudre des mers
- Active (E): Torpedo Fan — 3 projectiles, 5 at level 45
- Strengths: punishes enemy mistakes, excellent against big slow hulls
- Weaknesses: wasted salvos against nervous targets; demands anticipation
- Style: mid-range hunter, chess player
Spectre — the invisible one
- Hulls: Clipper → Écumeur → Vaisseau Fantôme
- Active: Dead Sails — vanish from enemy screens
- Strengths: picks every fight, constant psychological pressure
- Weaknesses: revealed by the Fortress's Fanal; fragile in a war of attrition
- Style: ambush, finesse, map knowledge
Bordées — the flank artillery
- Hulls: Frégate → Navire de ligne → Dreadnought
- Active (E): Great Broadside — simultaneous volley from both flanks, recoil usable as a dash (recoil-surf); Coal Curtain passive (smoke in your wake)
- Strengths: raw firepower, excels in melees, readable game plan
- Weaknesses: struggles against anyone who refuses a head-on exchange
- Style: classic gunship with a higher skill ceiling than it looks
Mortier — the siege
- Hulls: Bombarde → Monitor cuirassé → Titan cuirassé
- Active (E): cursor-aimed arcing shell, sails over obstacles
- Strengths: ignores islands AND barricades; punishes campers
- Weaknesses: tough against unpredictable small hulls
- Style: calm gunner who strikes where the enemy WILL be
Orage — the lightning
- Hulls: Galion → Galion royal → Galion d'Orage
- Active (E): Storm Chain — hold to charge, the bolt bounces from hull to hull
- Strengths: devastating against groups, flips numbers disadvantages
- Weaknesses: less dominant in 1v1; the charge is easy to read
- Style: big-battle player, nerves of steel required
Pièges — the architect
- Hulls: Caboteur → Forteresse flottante → Brûle-Flots
- Active (E): Estacades — log barricades (~250 HP) blocking ships and cannonballs; Fanal reveals invisible ships; the Brûle-Flots sets its own walls on fire
- Strengths: terrain control, anti-Spectre, anti-rammer
- Weaknesses: the Mortier fires right over its walls; weaker in open water
- Style: territorial strategist, thinks in corridors and zones
Flottille — the tycoon
- Hulls: Marchand armé → Croiseur marchand → Armada marchande
- Active (E): Armada Banner — commands an escort
- Strengths: the biggest cargo hold in the game, economic machine
- Weaknesses: a priority target for the whole server; its grouped escort fears Orage
- Style: risk manager, optimized routes
Profondeurs — the support
- Hulls: Baleinier → Jonque au trésor → Léviathan des Abysses
- Active (E): Deep Gong — heals around you, calls in whales
- Strengths: exceptional endurance, massive fishing income, group-play king
- Weaknesses: vulnerable to sudden, massive damage
- Style: deep-sea sailor, consistency and cooperation
So, which line should you choose?
Three shortcuts to help you decide: if you're just starting out, head toward the forgiving lines listed in our beginner ship guide; if you're chasing a thrill, Narval and Spectre are waiting; if you want to shape the match without constant dueling, Pièges, Flottille, and Profondeurs are your home. And keep the line counters in mind: your "best line" also depends on who else is on the server that night.
