The Dovion Map: A1-K11 Grid, Biomes and Hot Zones

· 3 min read · by the Dovion crew

"Meet me at C4" — that sentence only makes sense once you know how to read Dovion's map. The game's archipelago is a vast world roughly 8200 by 8200, laid out on a coordinate grid and carved into biomes with radically different vibes. Learning its geography means winning matches before the first cannon shot.

The A1-K11 grid: the language of coordinates

The entire archipelago is laid out on a coordinate grid, cells A1 to K11. The convention to remember:

This system serves two purposes: helping you find yourself, and setting meeting points with others — essential in a private room with friends, or to flag a discovery. One small but important detail: the grid stops at K and at 11. If someone tells you to meet at "F15," they're pulling your leg — that cell doesn't exist.

The biomes: four moods, four ways to play

The archipelago isn't a uniform sea. As you sail through it, you'll cross:

The overall logic is concentric: the closer you get to the center, the higher both the danger and the rewards climb. The outskirts for learning and farming, the heart for getting rich and dying — the balance is up to you.

The mini-map: your sixth sense

In-game, the mini-map sums up the essentials at a glance. The signal worth knowing by heart: the golden marker, which flags a bounty target. Two readings depending on your situation:

  1. You see a golden marker: someone's worth a lot. A hunting opportunity… knowing full well every other player sees the same thing.
  2. You ARE the golden marker: the whole room knows roughly where you are. Sell, hide, or embrace your status as premium prey.

To dig deeper into this underrated tool, we wrote a mini-map reading guide.

Day, night and the famous lever

One last geographical — or rather atmospheric — quirk: Dovion has a day/night cycle, and above all, a lever that lets a player trigger night. Darkness changes the archipelago's mood completely; knowing a player can deliberately cause it adds a delicious layer of strategy (and mischief). We tell the whole story in our article about night.
