Your Ideas Shape the Game: The Forum Is Open
An .io game without its community is a sea with no wind. Since Dovion's very start, the best ideas haven't always come from us: they've come from you, slipped into a message, a remark, a "what if we could..." So we're making it official: the Dovion forum is open, and it's now THE home port for all your ideas.
The forum: how it works
It's simple: head over to the forum and dive in. No protocol, no required format. There you can:
- pitch an idea for a feature, a ship, an event — even a wild one, ESPECIALLY a wild one (remember, we put football in the middle of the sea, we're in no position to lecture anyone on seriousness);
- report a problem: a bug, a button in a bad spot on your phone, a ship that feels unbalanced to you;
- talk strategy with other captains;
- react to blog announcements, like what we're currently working on.
And if you'd rather write to us privately, the site's contact form is still there: some feedback lands better one-on-one, and we read it with the same attention.
"Do you really read everything?"
Yes. We're a small team, which has a rare upside: there's no customer service layer between you and the people who actually code the game. The message you post on the forum gets read by someone who can, literally, change the game that same evening.
We don't promise to do everything — a small studio has to pick its battles — but we promise to read everything, and to explain why when we pass on an idea. Transparency has been this blog's guiding line since it opened, and that goes for the forum too.
The feedback that helps us the most
All messages are welcome, but certain formats save us a huge amount of time:
- The context: what device you're playing on (PC, phone, tablet), and what situation the problem happens in.
- The precise feeling: "the Mortier lineage feels too strong" is useful; "the Mortier kills me through the island while I can't fight back" is pure gold.
- The idea behind the idea: if you're pitching a feature, tell us what problem it solves for you. Sometimes we find a different solution to the same problem, and that's even better.
You don't need to be an expert. "I don't understand what this button does" is one of the most valuable pieces of feedback there is: if you don't get it, others don't either.
What the community has already changed
Without listing everything, several recent changes to the game were born from player feedback: balance tweaks, mobile interface improvements, clearer menus. The game you know today is already, in part, yours. We'd like that share to keep growing — and someday, to be able to point at an entire feature and say "that one came from a forum player." It might be yours. And we promise, when we say thanks, we'll say it publicly.
Your move
The forum is just waiting for its first big debates: which lineage is the best? Does the Colonel deserve his rank? Do we need more goats? Come settle it, pitch ideas, complain with love. And between two posts, go practice your actual subject of expertise: Play Dovion for free.
