The Dovion Blog Is Live (Here's What to Expect)
Here we go: the Dovion blog is officially live. We're a small French team building a free multiplayer naval battle game that runs straight in your browser, and until now we've mostly talked to you through the game itself. Starting today, we're talking to you here too: news, guides, dev behind-the-scenes, and everything orbiting the .io games we love.
Why a blog for an .io game?
Because a game like Dovion is constantly evolving. We add ships, tweak the balance, redo interfaces, fix bugs — and most of the time, nobody knows why we made this or that call. This blog is our way of laying our cards on the table.
We also want a place where a new player can understand the game without having to guess everything. Dovion has a 31-hull ship tree, bosses, fog, sirens, and even football in the middle of the sea: that deserves a few explanations. If you just washed ashore, start with the complete beginner's guide, then follow up with our 10 tips to get started.
What we'll publish (and how often)
We've set ourselves an ambitious pace for a small studio: two articles a day. Yes, that's a lot. Fair warning: some will be short and practical, others more in-depth. Here are the main categories:
- News: game updates, technical behind-the-scenes, balance decisions explained without corporate spin.
- Guides: everything you need to understand, from your first cannon shot to surviving the fog at the center.
- Ships: every lineage broken down — if you want a head start, check out the guide to the 9 ship lineages.
- Strategy: builds, timing, zone control, the art of fleeing.
- .io games: we also talk about the genre's classics (Agar.io, Diep.io, Slither.io…), with respect — they paved the way.
- Football: yes, a whole category, because scoring a goal with a warship deserves nothing less.
The forum is opening too
A blog is us talking. But what we really want is to hear from you. That's why we're opening the forum at the same time: pitch your ideas, flag what frustrates you, tell us about your most memorable runs. We're a small team, we read everything, and several features already come directly from player feedback.
No need to write a novel. "This ship is too weak," "this button is in a bad spot on my phone" — messages like that are worth their weight in gold to us.
We're counting on you
We're not going to promise you the moon. Dovion is an indie game, free, made with passion in France, and it's growing at its own pace. This blog will tell that story honestly: the wins, the misses, the work still in progress. If you play on your phone, check out our mobile guide — and if you play on PC, the next controls guide is already on its way.
Thanks for being here, whether you're a day-one captain or just a curious passerby. Hoist the sails, the first chapter starts now: Play Dovion for free.
