Arras.io Guide: The Diep.io Fork With Hundreds of Tanks
What happens when a community of fans takes the Diep.io formula and decides there can NEVER be too many tanks? The answer is Arras.io. This community project pushed the class-tree idea to dizzying extremes — hundreds of tank variants, wild game modes, oversized bosses. If Diep.io is the classroom, Arras is the mad-scientist lab next door.
A fork that became its own universe
Arras.io started as a tribute: take the Diep.io basics — a tank, geometric shapes to farm, levels, class choices — and throw them open to community ideas. Over the years the project grew into a game with its own identity: a sprawling evolution tree, constant rebalancing, and a culture of "what if we tried this?" To understand where it all comes from, our Diep.io guide lays the groundwork.
What's different from Diep.io
- The scale of the tree: where the original offers a tight, very readable progression, Arras multiplies the branches — dozens of tank families, from drone launchers to fortress cannons, with improbable hybrids at every tier.
- Game modes: beyond plain free-for-all, Arras stacks team variants, siege-against-waves modes, special maps... replayability comes as much from the modes as from the tanks.
- Bosses and events: giant geometric monsters regularly roam the match, turning quiet farming into a collective hunt.
- The spirit: Diep.io is a game frozen in its elegance; Arras is a living construction site, with all the surprises (good and less good) that implies on every visit.
Finding your way through the giant tree
Facing hundreds of classes, choice paralysis looms. A simple method:
- Pick an archetype, not a tank: range (snipers), volume (machine gunners), summoning (drones), defense (traps). The archetype guides every choice that follows.
- Follow one branch to the end before exploring its neighbors: knowing one lineage deeply beats knowing ten superficially.
- Match your stats to the archetype: Diep.io's build principles (glass cannon, rammer, balanced) transfer almost as-is.
- Die usefully: every match lost to an unfamiliar class teaches you one more entry in the bestiary.
Evolution, the other way
Arras.io proves one thing: the joy of the evolution tree stretches almost infinitely. But there's another path besides accumulation — the path of personality. That's the bet Dovion makes, our free naval battle .io game: instead of hundreds of variants, 9 tightly defined ship lineages (31 hulls total), each built around ONE memorable active ability — the Narval's ramming charge (a torpedo-boat lineage built entirely around collisions), the torpedo fan spread, the Pièges' estacade walls (a defensive lineage that plants underwater barricades)... Fewer branches, more character, and a sea world with bosses and events around it. Both philosophies complement each other beautifully, as shown in our roundup of games like Diep.io.
