Diep.io Guide: Tank Classes, Stats & Best Builds

· 3 min read · by the Dovion crew

If Agar.io invented the genre, Diep.io gave it its second stroke of genius: the evolution tree. This little tank that shoots geometric shapes hides one of the most copied progression systems in browser gaming. Classes, stats, builds: here's how the machine works, and how to get the most out of it.

The concept: a tank, shapes, and XP

You control a top-down tank in a shared arena. Destroying geometric shapes (squares, triangles, pentagons — pentagons pay the most) and other players earns you XP. Every level grants stat points, and certain milestones unlock a class choice. The cap sits at level 45: getting there in one piece is already an achievement.

The loop is brutally effective: farm shapes quietly, feel your tank toughen up, then dare your first duel.

The class tree

This is the heart of the game. At certain level milestones, you pick a specialization, and each choice opens new branches:

Each branch ends in highly specialized classes: drones to command, traps to lay, giant cannons... The fun of Diep.io is trying them all to find your own.

Stats and builds

Every level, you split points among several stats: health regen, max health, body damage, bullet speed/penetration/damage, reload speed, movement speed. A "build" is simply a deliberate allocation:

  1. Glass cannon: everything into attack, nothing into the hull. You melt everyone... as long as nobody touches you.
  2. Bruiser / rammer: health and body damage — you charge straight into the fray, literally.
  3. Balanced: a bit of everything, to learn the game without dying to every mistake.

We break down the winning allocations class by class in the best Diep.io builds.

Three tips to improve

Diep.io's legacy

The "levels + stats + class tree" idea spread everywhere — from community forks like Arras.io to modern .io games. That's exactly the DNA you'll find in Dovion, the free naval battle .io game: levels up to 50, stat points (Fire Rate, Ram Damage...), and evolutions at levels 5, 15, 30, and 45 across a tree of 31 hulls in 9 lineages — plus, as a bonus, an active ability per lineage on the E key. The full head-to-head is in Dovion vs Diep.io.
