This is Wormate's big addition: potions and temporary bonuses float around the map and alter your worm for the duration of an effect — a magnet that sucks in nearby food, speed boosts, growth multipliers, and other tactical treats. The strategic consequences:
- The magnet is king: hoovering up a field of cakes without deviating from your path is free growth AND safer growth (fewer turns means fewer mistakes).
- Bonuses create hotspots: a visible potion draws every worm in the area. Approach as an observer, not as easy prey.
- Stacking effects at the right moment (multiplier plus rich zone) sends your size curve up faster than any hunt ever could.
Growing big without getting cut off
- Boosting costs mass, here just like in the competitor game: sprint to seize an opportunity (a fresh kill, an interception), never "just to move forward."
- Remains are scavenger traps: when a giant falls, the knives come out. Eat from the edges of the feast, never the center.
- When small, play the edges; the map is poorer there, but you'll cross paths with far fewer high-speed trains.
- When big, play the scythe: circling mid-sized worms remains the top technique, as long as you keep an eye on other giants during your spiral.
- Never cross a head of unknown size in a blind turn. It's a rookie mistake, but it's the number one cause of death in the genre.
