Create a Dovion Private Room: Play With Friends
Sinking strangers is fun. Sinking your buddies is better. Good news: creating a Dovion private room takes no account, no software, and no fiddly setup. It all comes down to a link you build yourself and send to your crew. Here's how it works, plus a few ideas to make the most of it.
The idea: one link, one room
Dovion uses a named-room system. To join a specific room, just add its name to the game's address:
https://dovion.io/?room=NAME
Swap NAME for whatever you like. Anyone who opens the exact same link lands in the same room. No six-digit code, no waiting lobby: the link IS the invite.
Create your room in three steps
- Pick a simple name that's easy to type without typos: letters, numbers, hyphens. Avoid spaces and exotic characters.
- Build the link by pasting your name after ?room= (say, a room called "thursday-night").
- Send it to your friends however you like: message, email, stream description... Everyone clicks, picks a name, and you're all together.
The server can run several rooms in parallel (up to 16), so don't panic if your friend group wasn't the only one with the idea that night.
PC and mobile in the same match
This is one of Dovion's big strengths: the game runs in the browser, on desktop as well as phone or tablet. A room link therefore works for everyone at once: your friend on PC plays with mouse and keyboard, you're on mobile with touch joysticks, and you're sailing the same sea at the same time. No app to install — though you can add Dovion to your home screen to find it faster next time.
What to do in a private room?
A room with friends is a playground waiting to be invented. A few classics:
- The duel of honor: meet at a grid square (share coordinates like "E5") and let the best captain win.
- Naval football: push the ball toward the goals with your hulls — guaranteed laughs, especially when a goat gets involved. We cover it all in our guide to challenging your friends to naval football.
- Boss hunting: level up together and go provoke the center's bosses as a squad.
- Training: perfect for learning your lineage's abilities without public-server pressure.
And if you're playing in front of an audience, know there's an even more complete mode: streamer mode with configurable rooms, built for live streams.
One last piece of captain's advice
Check out the "Challenge a Friend" referral program: if your guest discovers the game through you and plays a bit, you both earn a bonus of banked XP. Inviting your friends literally pays off.
