MooMoo.io Guide: Build, Farm, and Survive

· 3 min read · by the Dovion crew

In the big family of .io games, MooMoo.io is the one that handed players a hammer. Here, you don't just grow: you gather, you build, you fortify — then you defend your little fortress against hordes of jealous neighbors. A mix of survival, base-building, and brawling that spawned a whole genre of its own. Here's how to go from wooden stick to fortified empire.

The loop: hit, gather, place

Everything starts with your basic tool. Hit trees for wood, rocks for stone, bushes for food. These three resources feed everything else: buildings (walls, traps, turrets), your survival (eating restores health), and your age progression. The ideal early-game rhythm is mechanical: gather without stopping, eat as soon as your health dips, and place your first structures away from high-traffic areas.

Mills: the bank that keeps spinning

MooMoo.io's genius find is the windmill: once placed, it generates points nonstop, without you lifting a finger. Points push you up the leaderboard and fuel your progression. Direct consequence: the game's real wealth isn't what you've gathered, it's how many mills you still have standing.

Building a base that holds

Walls block, traps immobilize, turrets sting. A good base combines all three: walls around the perimeter, traps in the access corridors, mills at the center. Two classic mistakes to avoid: building too big too soon (you'll never have the resources to finish the perimeter) and sealing yourself in with no way out — the besieged starve too.

Weapons and ages: pick your path

As you gain XP, you move through ages that unlock gear and upgrades: better melee weapons, bows for ranged harassment, hats with all kinds of bonuses. There's no universal choice: offensive players lean into weapons and mobility to raid other bases, builders invest in structures and defense. The game rewards both playstyles — and the best players switch between them depending on the match.

Don't play alone (if you can help it)

MooMoo.io reaches a whole new level in a tribe: shared resources, a common base, coordinated raids. An organized duo almost always crushes an equivalent solo player. If your friends are into other survival vibes, the family resemblance is direct with Starve.io (pure survival, cold and hunger included) and Taming.io (the same recipe, with combat pets). Our overview of .io survival games compares this whole crowd.

The last word (and another sea to build on)

MooMoo.io remains a reference because it gives your farming a purpose: every resource you gather becomes a wall, a mill, an outpost. If that "I build my power while I play" logic speaks to you but you're dreaming of wetter horizons, Dovion applies the same idea to naval combat: gold you mine and fish gets turned into levels and ship evolutions — 31 hulls, bosses, and an entire lineage (the Pièges, or Trap ships) dedicated to floating estacade barriers. Builders feel right at home. Play Dovion for free, the shipyard is open.
